Q:I would like to know your opinion on how to handle a co worker that likes to spred gossip like wild fire through the office, it can tend to be hurtful to those she targets and the boss just says over look her because she is one of the top sales persone we have.

A:  This one is a tricky one.  Especially when the boss is saying to over look it, which in itself is WRONG.  First of all this could take a group effort on the whole staff.

Here is a question: Does she know she is hurting peoples feelings? A lot of times people do not know they are actually hurting anyone in there wake for attention. 

So here are a couple ways you can handle this, you can go to her yourself and talk to her about it, tell her how you feel and what you see that she is doing.  If that fails go above the boss to his boss, if that fails go to corporate. 

 (Make sure you look into the whistler blowers law and make sure your protected.)
